“One should look around their garden and see themselves.”

Katherine Schiavone is the founder and owner of K. Schiavone Design, a boutique landscape design firm in the New York Metro Area with a focus on residential gardens.

“What I enjoy the most about the design process is working with my clients; bringing their ideas to life, discovering their property’s potential, and creating landscapes that enrich their lives. No two gardens are the same; they are as individual as the people who inhabit them. One should look around their garden and see themselves.” -k.schiavone

Katherine started her career with a foundation in modern architecture, graduating from Cornell University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture and continuing her career at Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects. There she worked on several award-winning projects before leaving to pursue her passion for landscape.

At Miranda Brooks Landscape Design, she learned the intricacies of English Garden Design, all the subtleties and grace of naturalistic planting held within structural frame. There she managed a full range of high-profile projects, from estate gardens in Morocco to garden courtyards in Colorado to Hamptons havens.

Later she joined Hollander Design Landscape Architects and became an integral part of their country gardens design team. With experience in modern, classical, and natural gardens, she led a wide variety of design projects across a range of natural landscapes. She also managed the large tree sourcing for the firm, hand selecting each tree for character, style, and health.

With over ten years of experience in landscape design and project management, Katherine founded K. Schiavone Design, where she now uses her architectural background, sense of style, and knowledge of plants to bring gardens of all scales to fruition. From design through meticulous install, Katherine crafts thoughtful, enduring spaces tailored to her clients’ specific needs, site conditions, and budgets.
